Welcome to Dream Closets, nestled in Sophia, North Carolina. Established in 2004 and owned by president and founder Terry Farlow alongside co-owner Robert Hassenmayer, we've been serving folks throughout the region for more than two decades.
Before Dream Closets…
If you'd knocked on our door back in 1995, you would have found a much different operation — and a much different owner. Instead of the hum of wood saws and CNC routers, you would have heard the gentle moos of cows grazing across the bucolic fields, meadows, and rolling hills of Randolph County. Instead of the clicking of computer keyboards while designing custom closets, you would have heard cows being shuffled into milking stalls. And instead of a comfortable pair of jeans and a work shirt, you would've found Terry sporting well-worn overalls and rubber boots.
Farlow Brothers Dairy was a thriving farm for 50 years, with as many as 250 cows on site at its peak. Now, that's a whole lot of cow patties!
Terry spent his life raising and milking cows, tending to the family farm from sunup to sundown. Before him, his father ran the operation with the same dedication. More than just cows and milk, the farm was a genuine passion for the Farlow family. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end — and so it did for the Farlow farm. Economic conditions made it near impossible for the family to continue operating. So, they sold the cows and equipment, closed up shop, and set their sights on the next chapter.
A golf course on the property? Sure, we talked about it and even drew up the plans, but the project never quite got off the ground. It was time to consider other options. So, naturally, we landed on a custom closet design company — and just like that, Dream Closets was born!
Dream Closets Today...
Fast forward to today, and alongside our two owners, Dream Closets has grown to a team of seven-plus dedicated folks, a handful of strong partnerships, and countless professional and client relationships that have earned us a well-deserved, five-star review rating.
At Dream Closets, we're all about helping you live your best life and making your closet dreams come true — whether you're finally ready to say goodbye to that wire shelving or you're envisioning the custom closet everyone talks about, complete with premium materials and the highest of luxury touches.
We design, manufacture, and install custom closets, laundries, pantries, garages, and other storage cabinetry throughout the Triad. In addition, we continue to provide CNC manufacturing services for other wholesale closet companies, cabinet shops, kitchen and bath companies, and furniture manufacturers. Dream Closets has completed thousands of projects over the years, from modest to extravagant, including home offices, media centers, wall beds, mud rooms, and commercial offices. We’ve even cut sofa frames for Kate Spade!
Today, we're operating out of 21,000 square feet and still growing, with an expanded client showroom in the works. Dream Closets proudly serves North Carolina from the mountains to the coast, as well as areas in South Carolina and Virginia. We look forward to working with y'all!

Spotlight on Victory Junction Camp
Dream Closets is a proud sponsor of Victory Junction, a year-round, elaborate and adaptive camp for children with complex medical and physical needs. Founded and created by the Petty family (Richard, Kyle, and family), the camp opened in 2004 to honor the life, legacy, and memory of Terry’s nephew, former NASCAR driver Adam Petty.
A portion of all Dream Closets retail sales is contributed to sponsor a child’s attendance at the camp.
Meet the Team
Terry Farlow
president
Terry was born and raised in Randolph County, where his family operated a dairy farm that shaped his understanding of hard work and dedication from an early age. He attended Randleman High School, playing both football and baseball, before returning to work full-time on the family farm after graduation.
In the early 2000s, when the family made the difficult decision to close the dairy operation, Terry saw an opportunity for a new beginning. In 2004, he co-founded a custom closet business on the family farm with a business partner, initially sourcing components from a company in Michigan. By 2008–2009, Dream Closets had evolved to manufacture its own closet parts, marking a significant milestone in the company's growth. However, when the financial crisis hit in 2009, the business faced serious challenges.
In 2011, Terry made another difficult decision—to leave Dream Closets when the company could not financially support both partners. He joined Hafele America, where he spent the next 10 years building strong industry relationships and gaining valuable experience while supporting his family. Though stepping away wasn't easy, those years prepared him for what was to come.
Terry returned to Dream Closets in 2021 with renewed vision and leadership, and the company has experienced tremendous growth since then. He firmly believes that Dream Closets' success is a direct result of its people—the dedicated team that shows up every day committed to quality and excellence. As President, Terry oversees daily operations and remains committed to leading the company with the same integrity and purpose that guided him on the family farm all those years ago.
Outside of work, Terry treasures time with his wife, three children, and five grandchildren at Sunset Beach. Dream Closets would not be possible without the unwavering support of the Farlow family, who have been there through every challenge and triumph along the way.
Robert Hassenmayer

Robert was born in New York, but North Carolina has been home since second grade when his family settled in Randolph County. After graduating high school in 2007, he joined the Army and served as a Cavalry Scout for four years, including a tour overseas. Following his honorable discharge from active duty in 2011, Robert continued his service in the Army Reserves, where he retrained as a medic.
In 2013, Robert started working at Dream Closets, and it quickly became clear that the precision, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills he developed in the military translated perfectly to custom closet design and fabrication. In 2021, when Phill Hunt, Terry's previous business partner, sold his shares, Robert became a co-owner of the company he'd helped build for nearly a decade.
Working at Dream Closets also brought him something invaluable—he met his wife, Faith. In 2015, they welcomed their daughter, Odessa, who keeps them busy and reminds Robert every day why he works so hard.
At Dream Closets, Robert wears many hats, including shop manager, programmer, machinery maintenance specialist, and occasionally even an installer. His day-to-day primarily involves managing the shop and programming systems to ensure every project meets our high standards.
Andrew Ferretti
Sales & Design Manager
Andrew grew up in Huntington Beach, California, before moving to North Carolina, where he attended Wesleyan Academy in High Point. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from UNC-Greensboro, building a foundation that would serve him well in both business and client relations.
In 2021, Andrew joined the Dream Closets team, bringing his passion for design and dedication to exceptional customer service. As Manager of Sales and Design, he leads the creative process from initial consultation to final installation, working closely with homeowners to create beautiful, functional storage solutions tailored to their unique needs and lifestyles. His favorite part of the job is collaborating with clients and witnessing their excitement when they see their finished space for the first time—and when it exceeds their expectations.
Outside of work, Andrew cherishes time with his daughter, exploring new places through travel, and staying active on the pickleball court.
